MOTEL article/infograph progress...

i've been looking at a lot McSweeney's and Cabinet issues lately. i really dig the sophisticated style they have, and i'm having trouble incorporating that sense of sophistication in my infograph. The information seems to be a bit silly (popular culture --like Pop-Up Video trivia), and i think its been leading me in a weird direction. i can make silly trivia look classy, right? i mean i pretty much think that's what these publications are about, totally obscure information that looks really important, or visa versa really intellectual information that is sort of discredited by the design.. i dont know. i don't think they're best designed magazines every but something about the pretentious nineteenth century style has me going, makes me think of the vintage motels: a little cold, a little quirky, and outdated. they're good reads too.
