This work in process is to make clear that the system of beauty is negative. Relying on collage skills, most of these ideas are a system within themselves, utilizing many images at once on a 2-d plane. Starting from the top and moving down, an idea I've begun to put into motion is the formula to beauty (or as you see, what things make you "pretty"). I'm thinking for exaggeration purposes there would be pig or other instinctive ugly image "done-up" poorly to emphasize the idea that anyone can be beautiful if you just have the right tools, and possibly the cookie-cutter effect resulting. The next idea, relying heavily on its text would be these objects and their relationship together in space (creating simultaneity of "doing" or "creating") with the words "make...me...pretty". Other ideas in pre-production are: similar to the idea addressed first, the formula without the tools' "creation" (? does it still work), a syringe containing Alicia's components [by using another yet heavily connotated beauty tool to express BAD -assuming plastic surgery is negatively connotated], a combination of creation, simultaneity, and irony or "the ugly done-up" as i like to call it [a metaphor for these things are not what make a person beautiful], and a simple graphic combo of text and image (plea for beauty seen as sad and vain).
