Tired of that same old typeface? Is your Font Book lacking in fresh cuts? Modulography will introduce a whole new world of typographic manipulation, all based within the parameters of grid structuring and modularity. From three-dimensional experimenting, to evolving typfaces, this conference is focused around process, developing new answers to the ongoing typographic question, and deepening an understanding of legibility within manipulated type. Featuring speakers like Wolfgang Weingart, Dirk Wachowiak, and Abbott Miller, this is a type conference to get designers thinking. If you've been stuck in a rut, here's the opportunity to break out of the box... literally.
Key Speaker Biography:
Dirk Wachowiak is a freelance designer and educator based in Stuggart, Germany. He has developed over a dozen typefaces licensed to AcmeFonts, including AF Module and AF Generation. As the manifesto for his master's thesis at Yale, his acclaimed essay "On Modularity" explores previous modular design and the potential future design has to suport better communication and living conditions. It questions modular processes to-date, and its inherent counter relationship to processes of the natural world. Dirk has worked with Tobias Frere-Jones, and currently holds the Type Directors Club Certificate of Typografic Excellence for 2001, 2003, and 2005.
