Hi-Dive in Denver, Tuesday night: Pink Hawks, Sway Machinery, and Khaira Arby. What an insane musical experience that was. Blisters on your heals ought to be earned dancing like we did, and how could I resist with that set list. An 11-piece latin-beat get-up, then some kind of Semitic funk (like seriously kosher Bar Mitzvah jams), then The Diva of Timbuktu — emphasis on Diva. Check out the video of Sway Machinery and Khaira performing a song from their new album together. The video doesn't do it justice; The lanky trumpet player liken to Adrian Brody is an amazing dancer, so keep your eye on him.
